Love the little canons this is a wonderful little camera with video capabilities. just don't drop it in the sand at the beach.......not even once, like i did. This is the replacement for an older model which was excellent until the sand got in the lens.....then it couldn't move to focus....bummer. anyway don't even think twice these are great little cameras.
Nice Camera I bought this to replace an old Canon Powershot that stopped working. Camera arrived promptly and is easy to start using right away, especially if you've used a Canon in the past. Image quality is very good, particularly indoors or shooting subjects against a bright background. I think image quality of all of these point and shoots has improved a lot over the last couple of years. Small and light enough to drop in a shirt or pants pocket. Pretty good value for the money. I have no significant complaints so far.
Great Camera and fast shipping, good price. We are enjoying these cameras in our elementary school. Good quality pictures with minimum skills.

Nothing but good things to say about it. I bought my last digital camera way back in 2003, so it has been a long time coming. I've only had this new camera for 2 days, and so far I am really impressed with it, and only have good things to say about it. I'm not really a camera expert and really don't use the Program mode, but rather just keep it in Auto for now. So here is the list of a few things I like about it so far. It takes 2-AA batteries, so no more expensive specialty batteries. The camera literally boots up in about 1 second, and you are ready to take pictures. The 3" LCD display is crisp and clear. The 6x zoom really brings in those far away objects. In Auto mode it can automatically adjust to Macro if the object < 1' away. You don't have to turn on the camera to view your pictures, just press the Playback mode button. When in Movie mode you can zoom while in the middle of filming. There is so many more good things to say about it, but the kids want me to go play badminton with them now. I have no regrets buying this camera, and would recommend it to anyone. -David

Great Camera This is a great camera considering the size and the price. Pictures are awesome with great quality and menu options are very much user friendly.I would definitely recommend others to buy this camera.

Camera i was very excited to get the camera since i have had a big bulky Kodak easy share for six years. The cannon Powershot SD1200 iS is 1/3rd of the size of my kodak and is very sleek looking. After setting everything up, i took my first picture. I was amazed at the face-detection, and how it tracks the face as it moves, which is perfect for capturing children. I was also impressed with the lack of lag time in between pictures and when turning on the camera. However, the only down point is that there is no fireworks setting, thus creating a blurr in the pictures for those great summer-time nights. Overall, i am satisfied with the camera, and would definitely recommend it.

just what i expected Size: this sucker is small. easy to carry around in your pocket. Picture quality: I cant complain. Some people write about noisy photos, over saturation, washed out this and that, i just dont see it and honestly i think it makes people feel smart when they write reviews like that. to my eye, the pics look great. i am not a professional photographer so maybe thats the problem. if you are like me and are a regular consumer, i am sure you will be pleased. HD movies: I was specifically in the market for point and shoot that did video well. let me say, the video in a brightly lit area is fantastic. hooked the camera up to my HD TV via mini hdmi and was amazed that this tiny little guy took such sharp video. in low light, the video can be a little noisy, but that is going to happen with any digital camera. that will even happen with a dedicated video camera, so no complaints from me. Battery life: battery is great, once again, no complaints. I think there is a reason that all the top selling camera's on amazon appear to be Canon's. This camera met all my expectations.
Poor noisy photos I wanted to like this camera. Size and features and speed are great. But the picture quality is terrible. Outside shots show well over saturated in the greens at all settings. Pictures are extremely pixilated and noisy. For 12mp I expected this to have sharper images than my Olympus 5mp camera but they were FAR worse. Printed and on a larger screen they don't hold up. Enlargements are terrible. All the images look like they've been digitally sharpened about 5 times. Video feature is nice but 90% of the time I want to take photos with this and ones that appear natural not juiced.

Soft Case for Canon Power Shot The case is sturdy and seems well made. there is a little pouch for extra cards. Would have been nice if there also was a pouch for extra batteries since the camera uses disposable batteries. And maybe a cord to hold it by. Otherwise i am very happy with the case.

Canon The camera is great. Takes great pics and is easy to use. The software stinks. It is very hard to use and lacks sufficient teaching tools to help in using it. I downloaded the teaching PDFs from the website and still have a lot of trouble editing the pictures.
Average image when compare with old FinePix 2800 ZOOM - why? The camera takes nice pictures and is very easy to operate, but to my surprise the picture quality is not even close to my old 2001 FinePix 2800 ZOOM camera by FujiFilm. This old camera has only 2 MPixels so the prints are limited to about 8 x 10, nevertheless I was surprised when I took several pictures at the same conditions and it show clearly that for some unknown reason the sensor CCD used by FinePix 2800 is a much, much better. I don't know why?
Great camera for a low price Great camera with a 10mp capability. The price is definitely a plus. We bought this to supplement our digital SLR. It's often easier to shove this small camera into a pocket than grab the camera bag and the attachments for the SLR. We recently used it for a trip to Kitty Hawk, NC, and the results were great (but not as good as the SLR.) Recommend you also buy a 2 or 4 GB SD card as the 32MB card that comes with the camera will only allow about 8 pictures at high quality.

iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the advanced DIGIC 4 image processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance. A Face Detection Self-Timer automatically detects an increase in the number of faces and makes the appropriate adjustments. For instance, to include the photographer’s face in a group shot, there’s no need to rush in. Just put the camera on a stand or tripod, specify Face Detection Self-Timer, and the camera will wait for the photographer’s face to get on-camera before it takes the shot. Motion Detection tracks moving subjects in a much larger range, and the Servo AF retains focus on a moving subject after the shutter button is pressed halfway--allowing you to wait for the perfect shot without refocusing. almost a great camera but better options available I am a big canon fan and have been patiently waiting for the release of the SD970 since canon's announcment prior to the 2009 PMA. In the following review my basis for comparison is the new sony w290 and my experience owning a canon SD700. I sent the SD970 back to Amazon after using it for about 1 hour. What is good: 1.Great screen 2.Solid feel, amoung the best I have seen for an ultracompact 3.Picture quality is the best of the ultra-compacts that I have seen 4.You can program one of the camera buttons to perform functions as you wish. I used this feature to start the video mode What is not so perfect: 1.After focusing, there is an annoying delay when pushing the take picture button. So when you have that perfect moment when your kids are finally smiling and push the button you have to wait about a third of a second. It does not sound like much but it is the difference between getting a great photo and an okay one. The picture quality is outstanding, but if you can't capture the moment - it just does not work for me. The sony w290 which does not take the same consistant quality of pictures does react much faster. 2.Filming in HD. The camera allows you to zoom in and out but when playing back the clip you can hear a significantly irrating sound similar to someone eating potato chips right next to you. This is not cool and was a big disappointment. (the sony w290 does not allow any zooming - if you assume that having the ability to zoom and an annoying sound is better than not having the ability to zoom - you'd be wrong, its that annoying) 3.There is no continous shooting mode while in the Auto-everything setting. So if you are like me and like to hold down the capture button to make sure take a few photos - you are out of luck. The sony w290 lets you do this. Summary Great photo quality, but disppointing delivery. My personal conclusion and recommendation is to purchase the sony w290 (basically the same features), which does not take quite the quality of pictures but will allow you to snap photos in continous mode and much faster response times on snapping photos.
Pretty sick camera and the price is nice Traded in my SLR to get this camera and its definitely worth it. Kinda got out of photography since it was so cumbersome to carry and SLR. Bought this and i dont miss it one bit. The HD video is awesome and this camera also does wide shots. You can also use manual setting which are great so i have no complaints at all. One thing to keep in mind is that these have great screens and need to be in a case otherwise they will crack in ur pocket or bag. I speak from experience.
So far so good I've had the camera for two days now. The resolution and size of the screen on this camera is absolutely incredible. Pictures and video look really sharp. Screen is anti-reflective too. HD video is outstanding. Taped a table tennis match, the video and sound was extremely clear and the movement was incredibly smooth, due to the 30 fps. I am not so impressed with camera's auto mode, while indoors, yet. Colors were off, maybe due to the white balance and low light. I find myself using the "P" mode mostly and making small adjustments to the white balance and adjusting the "my colors" section. Overall its a beautiful looking camera and feels good in the hands. I like the two tone color scheme. You have to watch your fingers, on your left, hand so they don't block the flash, it's very easy to do.
